Mountains and more - Colorado
My July trip to the Rocky Mountains National Park, Colorado Springs, and other places in Colorado
From June 30th through July 4th, my parents came over to Denver from Iowa to visit me while I
intern with US West in Denver (actually, US West is now
Qwest). These two pages hold photos from trips to the mountains to the west and areas to the south. Enjoy!

Not everything in the park was healthy
But 98% of everything was beautiful. Here my mom and dad stand on a bridge leading
to some snow on a hillside. It was very interesting to see and touch snow in July.
While we were looking at the snow, a little girl decided to attempt the death-defying stunt
of sliding down the snow bank in her nice clothes. The response of her father "Now honey,
why didn't you do that while I had the video camera on?" After which the girl and her sister
proceeded to dutifully return to the top of the snow bank and slide down again.
I really tried not to be completely frustrated by the following activity of most people (including myself)
in the park: 1. Drive through the beautiful park on narrow roads until a parking area
is reached 2. Get out of the car with video camera and/or still camera and stand next
to everyone else and take the same photo everyone else will take 3. Get back into car,
rinse and repeat
Well, ok I did go off the beaten path once to get some flowers and such and hopefully some unique
photos.
As one moves toward the exit of the park, the mountains come back into full view and I had a
much greater appreciation of the scale and extent of the range of mountains.
